We are super proud to confirm that today Sam's Superheroes Therapy Dogs started their pilot collaboration with Bridge the Gap Child Mental Health Derby (click here) and Redwood Primary School, Derby (click here) to help assess the benefits of having a Therapy dog in children's 1:1 sessions. A huge thank you to Kirstie Woolley from Bridge the Gap and Lucy Clarke, Assistant Head Teacher at Redwood for their commitment to this pilot project.
This morning Daisy put on her best bandana, sprinkled herself with her magic superhero dust, and put her best paw forwards. I think it is fairly safe to say that she absolutely rocked her first official Therapy Dog assignment at Redwood! The children and staff adored her, and judging from the photo she was loving the attention too! She is certainly living up to the superhero element of Sam's Charity.
We received fantastic feedback from the Assistant Head Teacher at Redwood School who said:
"I just wanted to reach out and say a HUGE thank you for allowing Daisy to come to Redwood today with Kirstie. We have so many children who would benefit from meeting and working with Daisy"
To say everyone at Sam's Superheroes is proud of Daisy is an understatement, she has blown us away by her natural aptitude for this role. But then she had the best mentor in Sam, he will be so proud of Daisy and what she is achieving in his name.
PS We also heard a little whisper that there was extra treats for Daisy when she came home from work!
