Whilst my beautiful son Sam isn't physically here to celebrate the end of his first year at Silverhill Primary school, it is only right we celebrate it for him.

Sam LOVED school. It brought him joy, pride, friendship and quenched his insatiable thirst for learning. Today is packed with emotion and heartache, made even more poignant by my visit to school on Monday to pick up Sam’s last remaining belongings and have a peak round his classroom with his much-loved teachers, Mrs Allen and Miss Garrington.

Sam’s memories will live within me, his friends and family for eternity. He touched so many lives, and continues to do so, even those he has not physically met, but who are joining in our Sam’s Superhero journey.

So today could not pass without celebrating Sam’s seven months in the Lions reception class. Here are four photos of Sam, two taken on his first day at school, and two from March. These are some of the very last photos we have of him including one with his beloved dog Daisy (soon to be a community Therapy Dog), and one on his last birthday on the 8 March at school. The next photo is a collage of his precious school belongings including his mini-me from school.

In the words of a poem, we cannot judge a biography by its length, nor by the number of its pages in it, we must judge it by the richness of its contents. Sam my darling, you touched so many lives in your short five years and had richness, kindness and love oozing out of you. We love you for ever, we will miss you for an eternity and we couldn't be any prouder of you ❤

Much love as always,

Sam's mummy
