CALLING ALL SUPERHEROES, we have a superhero mission for you!!!

 

Put on your SUPERHERO outfits and meet Spiderman your 'Mission Leader'! Join us for a FREE (book on Eventbrite) Sam's Superheroes & Tori's Woodland Adventures family treasure hunt, on Sunday 1 May at 10.30am at the beautiful Mickleover Meadows! Our aim is to help connect children with nature, keep them physically active and mentally stimulated. Plus we are showing off the beautiful hidden gem that is Mickleover Meadows, right on our door step!

 

Using your treasure map, you will explore Mickleover Meadows, solve the clues and find the hidden painted stones to receive your own personal treasure bag at the end! 

 

We are excited to confirm that Spiderman and the Mayor of Derby City will be joining us as this is the opening walk of Derby Walking Festival 2022, organised by Move More Derby (click here), so our Treasure Hunt will be officially opening the 2022 Festival!

Walk Meeting Point & Registration: in the car park at Rykneld Sports Centre, Richmond Park Rd, Mackworth, DE22 4LP.

Car Parking: Yes (Free) behind the sports centre

Walk registration: from 10am

Walk start time: 10.30am

Walk finish time: 12pm (approx)

Type: circular, gentle walk allowing for lots of play time! Circa 2 miles, mainly on footpaths, some short distance across fields, but alternative buggy routes are available if necessary.

Group or Individual: The walk may be completed in individual groups from 10am, or the group walk will start at approx 10.30am.

Toilets: Available in Rykneld Sports Centre.

Dogs: Well behaved and friendly four-legged friends are very welcome to join us, and they will even receive their own doggy treat at the end too* sponsored by the awesome Chews Chester a local dog treats and bakery company!

About Mickleover Meadows: It is a local nature reserve and a hidden gem in the heart of Mickleover, home to a plethora of wildlife and boasts a conservation area packed full of history. It is also home of the fabulous BMX bike track!

Treasure Bags: Children will receive a small treasure goody bag* at the end, and dogs will receive their own bag of treats! TICKETS MUST BE OBTAINED!

 

* IMPORTANT: To join the walk, TICKETS MUST be obtained from EVENTBRITE for adults, children and dogs. Numbers are STRICTLY limited and without a ticket you will not be able to participate in the walk and children’s goody bags and dog treats will NOT be available.

 

  • Dogs must be kept on a lead, and they MUST NOT go on the playing field areas at Rykneld Sports Centre.
